Manage Messages

With Desktop Marketer Lite Version, you are able to:

Desktop Marketer Pro version gives you a more extensive range of messaging and tracking options. In addition to the above options, you can:

At any time, you can review the following details about any message you have uploaded to your web server:

Notification date/time

Subject

Number of times downloaded

Number of times opened

Size (in K)
 

To review details about the messages you have posted:

  1. Click Manage Messages in the Control Panel:


     

  2. The Message Manager window will appear. In it, you can review the notification status and subject line of each message you create. If you are using Desktop Marketer Pro version, you can also review the number of times each message has been downloaded from your server (Recv) and viewed by your contacts (Open), plus the size (Size (K)) of each message.


     
    Notification Date/Time

    The Notification Date/Time field displays the "upload status" of each message you have posted or scheduled.

    Desktop Marketer is currently uploading the message to your server

    Failed

    Desktop Marketer is unable to upload the message to your server. Check to make sure that your Internet connection is active and your web server has sufficient free space to save the message.

    Date and Time
    (e.g., 03/30/2004 09:08:01)

    Desktop Marketer uploaded the message to your server on the date and time displayed. If a future date/time are displayed, Desktop Marketer has been scheduled to upload the message.

     

    Subject
    The Subject field displays the subject line of each message. This subject line will appear in the Desktop Reader inbox, and will also appear across the top of the browser window that displays the message when it is opened. It can contain merge fields such as [first name], which will automatically be replaced with the correct contact information when they appear in a contact's inbox.

    Number of times downloaded
    The Recv field displays the number of times a message has been downloaded from your server by your contacts' Desktop Reader application. Each of those contacts will have been notified about your message by a blinking desktop tray icon and a pop-up notification window:


     

    Number of times opened
    The
    Open field displays the number of contacts who have clicked the subject line of a message to open the full message in a new window. This number represents the total number of people who have read part or all of each message. Note that only one “open” will be recorded for each contact who opens a message, no matter how many times they view it.

    Size
    The
    Size (K) field displays the size, in kilobytes, of each message. This figure includes the size of all embedded files such as images, audio, and video clips.
