Stop and Uninstall the Desktop Reader

The Desktop Reader is designed to be as user-friendly as possible and to run "behind the scenes" without interfering with other programs or tasks. After you install it, the program will start automatically and continue running in the background to ensure that you receive regular, timely notifications about new messages as they become available.

When the Desktop Reader inbox is closed, the only sign that the program is running is the small taskbar tray icon on the lower right-hand side of your computer screen:

To exit the Desktop Reader software, right-click the taskbar tray icon and click Exit:

This will close the software, and you will not receive any new message notifications again until you start the program again. To restart the Desktop Reader, click the Start menu on your computer desktop, then click All Programs, then find the Desktop Reader icon and click it. The program will also restart automatically each time you turn on your computer.

To permanently remove the Desktop Reader software from your computer:

  1. Click the Start menu on your computer desktop.

  2. Click Control Panel.

  3. Click Add and Remove Programs.

  4. Locate the Desktop Reader program and click Uninstall.
